Network Repairs

NGED has an obligation to its customers to maintain the safety and reliability of the assets that feeds their properties. Inspections are carried out to identify safety issues and assess the condition of assets. At NGED we take both a proactive and reactive approach to scheduling repairs and replacements as necessary to prevent any disruptions or unplanned power cuts.

To be proactive, when we identify any potential issues that arise, we scheduled repairs before they become urgent. Additionally, NGED utilises advanced monitoring systems to detect any abnormalities in the system, which allows for early intervention and prevent power cuts. In the event of an unplanned outage, NGED takes a reactive approach to quickly resolve the issue and restore service to customers. A team of experienced technicians is available 24/7 to respond to any emergencies and work diligently to get the system back up and running as soon as possible.

Our upcoming business plan rollout includes a pre-fault detection and network monitoring. This technology will be looking for faults before they happen, meaning we can be proactive in fixing faults before they cause a power cut.

In the event of a power cut, it's important to be prepared. Take a moment to watch our videos on how to get ready for a power cut below, and if you need additional assistance, please reach out to our vulnerable customer service team using the link provided below.

You can also refer to the details on your letter and call the local office should you require further information. Thank you for your understanding, we are committed to minimising these disturbances as much as possible.

Timing

Whilst we always endeavour to carry out our work with the minimum amount of inconvenience to our customers, there will be times where we have no choice but to interrupt the electricity supply. Even in these cases, we try to opt for the times that are best for the majority of our customers, but because of our extensive rolling work program, this is not always possible.

What can you do?

Keep a torch handy and make sure you check its batteries.

Make up flasks with hot drinks and food for use during the supply interruption.

Keep you freezer door shut while the electricity supply is off.
